The Opportunity

Berry Street provides high quality Out of Home Care Services in our Southeastern Region. The Out of Home Care Program provides General, Intensive and complex Foster Care for children and young people who are unable to live with their own families.  We are seeking an experienced and passionate Duty & Intake Worker to join our vibrant Southeastern Home Based Care team.

The program provides complex, intensive and general Home Based Care for children and young people who are unable to live with their own families. This role will hold a caseload, providing case management intervention to provide preventative and secondary level support and intervention. You will be responsible for assisting families to strengthen their parenting capacity to build their child's safety, stability and development.

With a solid focus on strengthening our program through recruitment, training, support and quality assurance mechanisms, the Intake & Assessment Worker will undertake the assessments of prospective foster carers and review of accredited carers.  There is also a requirement to provide training to prospective carers and the ongoing training for accredited caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

To be considered for this role, you must have an appropriate tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related discipline and a thorough understanding attachment and trauma theories. You will have a strong understanding of the welfare system including Home Based Care and well developed knowledge of the stages of child development. You will have strong inter-personal skills and a passion to make a positive contribution to young people and their families.
