The Opportunity

Berry Street's Residential Care Programs provide accommodation, care and support to children and young people aged 12 -17 years requiring placement with the Residential Care setting. With multiple sites across Victoria, our houses are staffed on a 24-hour roster, 7 days a week.  Most shifts are 8 hours in length and day and afternoon shifts span the hours of 7am and 11pm and are required to be able available to work night and stand up overnight shifts

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a dedicated team to deliver high quality care to Children and Young People in a residential facility.
  • Work directly with Children and Young People in the Out of Home Care program.
  • Undertake Looking After Children (LAC) requirements for clients and monitoring of relevant documentation of LAC.
  • Implement current practices in therapeutic interventions for Children and Young People in care with regard to trauma and attachment.
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive education, living, social and recreational skills program, as per program guidelines.
  • Maintaining administrative and progress note keeping requirements in accordance with Berry Street and program guidelines.
  • Ensure the residential facility is clean and well maintained by undertaking general household tasks including shopping, cooking, maintenance and cleaning.

Work across a variety of shifts:

At Berry Street we encourage a work life balance and ensure our people take the opportunities to work across varied shifts to allow time for those important things in life; such as family and friends.

We offer the following shifts for our Residential Care Workers;

  • Day/Evening: Shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 8:00pm.
  • Stand Up: Shifts are between 10:00pm - 08:00am.
