Open Place is a support and advocacy service that co-ordinates and provides direct assistance to address the needs of people who grew up in Victorian orphanages and homes during the last century. Our aim is to help people who identify as ‘Forgotten Australians’ to deal with the legacy of their childhood experiences and provide support to improve their health and well-being. 

Our centre, based in Richmond, is a place where our service users can come to access our services and enhance their social connections with others, providing them with an environment that is welcoming, non-threatening and inclusive.

About the role:

Acting as the 2IC for our Administration Manager, the primary responsibilities of this role are to provide general administrative duties and administrative support to all of the programs that Open Place provides. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administration support for our social support groups and their activities
  • Order office supplies including coles/fuel vouchers and employee business cards
  • Manage petty cash including gathering and keeping track of all expenses and receipts.
  • Manage fleet maintenance
  • Process payment reimbursements
  • Update all information in our internal database and produce regular reports as required

About you:

We are seeking an experienced, organised, self-motivated Administration Officer to join our team.  Previous experience working in a Community Services Organisation would be advantageous.   

  • A minimum of 3+ years experience in a similar role
  • Advanced level of computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook (knowledge of Publisher is desirable)
  • The ability to be highly organised and manage your time effectively
  • An empathetic and friendly approach to your work with the ability to remain calm and composed in times of stress
  • Previous experience working in a Community Services Organisation (desirable)
  • Staff must either hold or be able to obtain a valid Working with Children’s Card and undergo a Criminal Records Check prior to employment
