The Home Based Care Program primarily provides support for children and young people who are unable to live with their own families. Most children and young people are placed in out of home care following child protection intervention.  

About the Role:

This role is responsible for supporting the Home Based Care program which also includes kinship care undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Provide support to program staff to establish and maintain placements in the various components of foster care, including case management responsibilities as required
  • Undertake responsibility for the facilitation of access arrangements for children and young people in out of home care and their families.  
  • Transport children to and from placement, appointments and school where necessary.

About You:

  • You will have a commitment and passion for working with children, youth and families.
  • You will have a broad understanding of the issues facing those most vulnerable within our community
  • Show empathy for young people and their families in an open-minded and non-judgemental manner.
  • Have a strong capacity for emotional self-regulation in order to set and maintain boundaries.
  • Have demonstrated capacity to engage with children and young people who display challenging behaviour.
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work or other relevant field or currently undertaking study in a related discipline.
